ASID 2023 Excellence In Design Second Place Winner
IDS 2023 Designer of The Year 1st Runner Up
The inspiration for this Island Retreat was the coastal and beach community of Martha’s Vineyard, a small, exclusive island surrounded by water which can only be reached by ferry from the mainland. Lighthouses, marine life and water abound.
These clients needed multiple dining and entertaining areas and easy care furniture and fabrics. The goal was to provide multi functional, family friendly space for lots of dining and entertaining while reflecting the homeowner’s taste.
For the bedrooms, each child picked their favorite colors and the design started there.
Kitchen
Because the homeowners have a large family and love to entertain, we divided the room into several dining and entertainment areas in order to accommodate large groups.
Bright, clean and crisp, it is my favorite room because it has a coastal feel without being trendy or cliche. The large paisley fabric used in the window treatment set the color and tone for the room, it’s sophisticated without being too serious.
Entrance Hall
The house is typical Martha’s Vineyard shingle style construction and fairly traditional so I wanted the entrance to contrast and be a bit more modern hence the modern console table and transitional lamps and art.
